The magazines that I have researched are a mixture of music and fashion magazines. In order to incorporate a sense of design that the fashion magazines contain I have looked into how the pictures included are presented. It is clear that particular magazines such as Elle and Vogue use a vast amount high key lighting, with brightening colours to amplify the beauty of the icons placed upon the front covers, usually shown in a mid-shot or close-up image. Direct mode of address is also included in the images, which creates a personal relationship between the audience and the artist which relates to the uses and gratifications theory, allowing the audience to be involved with the magazine. I would like to include these features in my magazine as it will adopt the look that fashion magazines have, and seeing as my music magazine is aimed at females aged 16-30 I feel this element of fashion being included will help to attract this gender and age group – for women are stereo typically fashion orientated. I want to create a personal relationship between my magazine and the audience through direct mode of address.
In music magazine I have researched, Hermeneutic code is commonly used and it is effective with intriguing the audience into the magazine. I will aim to use this in my music magazine as I want the audience to be drawn towards the magazine and be interested to read it by something that is featured on the front cover.
